How difficult it might be to find a 10 L plastic fuel tank?

Since on our journey from Ushuaia to Alaska, we will have to drive about 500 km without any possibility to fill our tank with fuel, it was obvious that we will need to purchase two 10 liters tanks to upgrade our independency. Simba - our R4S - carries an about 23 liter tank, with which we will be able to do about 300 km depending on wind, gradient routes etc.

We thought: How difficult it might be to find a 10 L plastic tank in a city with more than 600.000 citizens? I didn´t believe it, before we´ve experienced it ourselves... it really is difficult. First we asked where to get it. They´ve told us in "Ferreterías" you´ll get it for sure. You´ll ask what´s that? ;) Ferreterías are called those hardware stores, where you may go to purchase tools, screws, accessories for cars etc. Okay it sounded like it should be easy to get that... we thought... haha

in short: we went to 7 different "Ferreterías" all kind of sizes located all over Mar del Plata. First stop: They had 1 for 1.500 pesos

Second stop: They had only 1 with 25 liters for 2.050 pesos

third stop: They did not have any

fourth stop: They did not have any

Fifth stop: They had 2 for 1.050 pesos each - but it was bad quality

Sixth stop: They did not have any

So after 3 hours driving through Mar del Plata yesterday, our seventh stop was today - a day later - at the first store again, where we finally bought that 10 L tank, and lucky us - they were able to send a second one from another store within another day! :D

In a nutshell, about 30 kilometers, 3.000 pesos (= 47 €) and 2 days later, we´ve received two pieces 10 liter fuel plastic tanks! yeah

Important note:

Living in Argentina is far away from "cheap" - even compared with European standards! It´s the Life-necessary things like toilet paper etc which is way overpriced in view of prizing (prize-performance ration) and regarding the poor monthly income of an average Argentinian.
